Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi

Visit Mtskheta – an old capital of Iberia kingdom (from IV BC to VI AD), at a short distance beyond Tbilisi. Nobody can understand the Georgian spirituality without visiting the ancient royal and religious capital of Mtskheta. Next stop is Jvari (Cross) Monastery, perched on a hill and overlooking the union of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. Finally, visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (“Life-giving column”) – 11th AD- where according to the biography of a Georgian Saint, Christ’s robe is buried. The route continues to Gori – Joseph Stalin Museum, where you will see many historical documents, photos, articles, Stalin’s personal items, and furniture. In front of the museum, visitors can see the carriage that he used for traveling. The next destination is the impressive Uplistsikhe Cave Town. It has also been one of the oldest places of settlement in the Caucasus. Return to Tbilisi at the end of the day.
