The Sardarapat Monument is dedicated to the Battle of Sardarapat in 1918. At a distance of 30 km from Etchmiadzin, its entrance is lined by huge winged oxen made of red tufa. A stairway leads to the high bell tower with twelve bells. The latter ring every year on May 28, the day of the historic victory.
