Multi-Activity Tour In Armenia & Georgia 14 Days / 13 Nights

Arrival in Land of NOAH. At Zvartnots International airport you will be welcomed and assisted through immigration and customs by Santa Maria Tours representative, then escorted to your hotel.

After the breakfast your guide will meet you at the lobby of the hotel and you’ll start your trip with the city tour in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, which is the largest city of Armenia. The city was founded in 8th century BC and was known as Erebuni. You will pass by the ancient streets of Yerevan such as Baghramyan street, Mashtots Avenue, one of the oldest street Abovyan. You’ll visit the Victory Park, from where you can admire the whole city. The walk will continue by Cascade Complex of massive staircase with fountains to the Opera and Ballet theater. Here in Cascade complex is located Cafesjian Center of Art, which offers a wide variety of exhibitions raised from the collection of contemporary art of the founder Gerard Cafesjian.

This day you’ll visit Matenadaran, which is the unique Museum of Armenian Manuscripts, located at the widest road of central Yerevan, named “Mashtots Avenue”. The museum is also named after Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of Armenian alphabet, who’s statue you can see in front of the building. When the museum was established as a distinct institution it had around 10.000 manuscripts. And now Matenadaran have 23.000 manuscripts and scrolls.

After the lunch visit the History Museum of Armenia, located on Republic Square of the city of Yerevan, founded on 1919 by National Assembly of Armenia. The museum has national collection of 400.000 objects with 5 departments as Archaeology, Numismatics, Ethnography, Modern History and Restoration.

After the excursions to the historic museums of Yerevan, you’ll have a chance to visit the legendary Armenian Brandy Cognac Ararat, which was started his production in 1887 in Yerevan. In a quarter of a century Armenian Brandy gained worldwide recognition and its production reached an imperial scale.

The third excursional day you’ll visit one of the most visiting sites of Armenia – Garni Pagan Temple which is located in the village of Garni. Built in the 1st century CE, the Temple of Garni survived the destruction of pagan temples following Armenia’s convention of Christianity. After the earthquakes the temple was reconstructed. The latter is situated on a cliff, from where opens a beautiful panoramic view up to a range of Geghama mountains as well as the Azat River near the Ararat Plain. The Medieval Monastery of Geghard is located deep within Azat Valley, founded by Saint Gregory the Illuminator as the area of a small Christian chapel. The complex is accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 CE. You can have a lunch here in Garni village where you can be present also at a preparation of Armenian bread “Lavash”. Start hiking to Havuts Tar Monastery. Visit the Medieval Monastery of Geghard, which is located deep within Azat Valley. Turn back to Yerevan.

Start this day by visiting the blue Pearl of Armenia – Lake Sevan, recognized as a national treasure in the country. It is the largest lake of the Caucasus and Armenia, at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level. At the shore of a small island is located the Monastery complex of Sevanavank. After the water level fell about 20 m, the island transformed into a peninsula. You can take your lunch here in Sevan, which provides approximately 90% of the fish and 80% of the crayfish catch of Armenia.

Continue the road to Apaga Resort, which is one of the beautiful areas of Ijevan. The cozy cottages of the resort combine the traditional style of Armenian houses with all modern amenities. The resort provides an opportunity for relaxation in the mountains, offers horseback riding, ziplining, paragliding and other activities. After your check-in at the hotel start the Lastiver hiking trail. The biggest part of this region is covered with forests, caves, swift river, small waterfalls. Tourists and local people choose a tour to Lastiver, to see this amazing nature. The extreme lovers love this road very attractive. Here you can see a wonderful waterfall, noising in the bottom of the canyon. Have an overnight in Apaga Resort.

After the breakfast in the beautiful nature of Ijevan, take the road to the Armenian Switzerland, known as Dilijan. Dilijan is one of the most important resorts of Armenia. You’ll have a little city tour in old town of Dilijan which includes Sharambeyan street in the center, complete with craftsman’s workshops, galleries and museums. Start the hiking from lake Parz to Goshavank Monastery located in the village of Gosh and surrounded by village homes. This is 12th- or 13th-century Monastery Complex remaining a popular tourist destination. The Complex was partly restored by an Islamic individual from the United Arab Emirates. An Armenian statesman, scientist and author of numerous fables and parables as well as the first criminal code, Mkhitar Gosh, took part in the rebuilding of the monastery. Have an overnight here, in Dilijan.

Hiking trail: 2 hours 10 minutes (3.85 miles)

Breakfast in the hotel in Dilijan. The guide and driver will bring you to the village Tumanyan, from where you’ll start the Rafting for 2 hours to Sanahin Village. After an excursion to the medieval monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin, listed as UNESCO Heritage Sites. In Haghpat Monastery were studied humanitarian sciences and medicine, scientific treatises written and paintings, most miniatures created. Haghpat is the unique building illustrating the high level of development of civil architecture in the 11th-13th century Armenia. Have an overnight in Haghpat.

Rafting trail: 1 hour 20 minutes (7.5 miles)

After the breakfast in Haghpat, you’ll be transferred to the Armenian-Georgian border Sadakhlo. Meeting in the border. Continue the road to Tbilisi. Have a rest and overnight there.

City tour of Tbilisi: Metekhi Church, delight with unforgettable panoramic views over the river Mtkvari and the main attractions of Tbilisi old district, Narikala Fortress – the ancient symbol of the city, Sioni built in 6-7th CC, synagogue, the only remaining mosque in Tbilisi, etc. Visit Abanotubani sulfur baths. Visitors will walk to the pedestrian street Sharden. Visit Open Air Museum of Ethnography. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Departure for Mtskheta – an old capital of Iberia kingdom, visit Jvari (Cross) perched on a hill and overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (“Life-giving column”) – 11th. On the way of Kazbegi visit Ananuri Castel with picturesque views over Jinvali Reservoir. Cross the legendary Georgian Military Highway, one of the world’s most beautiful roads, through valleys, ravines and finally over the 2300-meter Cross Pass. Hiking (6 km, 3 hours) to Gergeti Trinity Church. Dinner and overnight in Kazbegi.

Departure by 4×4 car to the village Juta (N.A.40 min drive). From the village, we start our hike (1h30), we reach the slopes of the Mount Chaukhebi located up to 2700m above sea level. Splendid panorama of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Chaukhebi at 3840m, one of the highest peaks in Georgia. Hike back to the center of Juta. Dinner and overnight in Kazbegi.

Departure by 4×4 car for Truso Valley, hiking (3 hours). Enjoy with intact nature, great mountains and vastness; It is really excellent place for photographing. There visitors can found lots of mineral springs in the Gouges of Truso. Rafting on the river Aragvi – difficulty lever 2-3. The rout is 13 km long and according to the river level 1 hour and 10-20 minutes are needed for rafting. Special training before rafting (15 minutes). Rafting will be conducted by 8-10 seat standard rafting boats. Every boat is accompanied by a qualified instructor! Rafting equipment (helmets, rafting jackets, wetsuits). Departure for Borjomi remarkable for its mineral waters and unique nature. Dinner and overnight in Borjomi.
